RS422/485 cards are widely used in industry for communications over long distances

(RS485 allows for up to 32 driver/receiver pairs on a party line data bus up to 4000 feet).

All of our PCI RS422/485 cards have terminating resistors with fail-safe open/short

circuit detection. In addition, they each have hardware autogating - automatically

detecting the start and finish of data transmission, and guaranteeing rapid turnaround

in half duplex operation, thus preventing data loss. This enables the use of lower cost,

half duplex cabling solutions especially for large factory installations (if supported by

the remote equipment).

The majority of the range are based on Brainboxes’ high performance LYNX chip

with massive 128byte FIFO buffers to ensure smooth and reliable data transfer.

RS485 Autogating

Autogating is implemented on all Brainboxes PCI RS485 cards to automatically detect

the start and finish of data transmission. This guarantees a rapid “receive turnaround”

in half duplex operations, therefore preventing data loss.
